Welcome to our First Grade Team.

I am looking forward to kicking off the 2018-2019 school year with Mrs. Ryan, Mrs. Bisson, Mrs. Talerico, and myself along with all the incoming 1st Graders. We are going to do a lot of exciting things throughout the year and am glad you will be a part of them. Please feel free to contact me at jodie.burns@naugtauck.k12.ct.us and don't forget to sign up for Class Dojo. All messages go through the Class Dojo App along with personal messages, class stories, and individual pictures.

Have an amazing summer and see you on August 27th @ 8:40 :)

All About Me:

There are so many things that I love about teaching, especially here in Naugatuck. I love that I get to be involved in the lives of so many children, teenagers, and adults. I don't just teach my students, I bond with them and their families. I follow them through Maple Hill, Intermediate School, Middle School and High School and try to keep involved in their lives. I love that I get to challenge students and help them achieve their personal best both in and out of the classroom. Watching the growth that takes place from September to June both academically and personally  is one of the best feelings, especially when a 1st grader starts reading :) This position has also given me the opportunity to coach basketball (my other passion), run after-school programs, and develop a scholarship for hard-working student-athletes at NHS. I am truly blessed to be in position to develop relationships and have a positive impact on so many peoples lives.
