About Mrs. Binette
I always knew that I wanted to work with children and when I graduated college in 2004 with my Bachelors Degree in Communication Disorders and began working in a school for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I knew this was what I wanted to do and returned to school to receive my Masters Degree in Autism and Assistive Technology. In 2008 I was given my first teaching position and I have been working with students with various disabilities for 10 years. I love that I have had the opportunity of teaching so many students to communicate, use different behavioral techniques, work in a 1:1 and group setting, follow routines, and become successful in a variety of settings in their everyday lives.
Working in Naugatuck, at Maple Hill specifically, has taught me so much. It is truly a wonderful school and all of the teachers work together to include my students to the best of their abilities. I have learned and worked hard to become an integral part of an amazing team both in special education and school-wide. My students have taught me how to be my very best and I have grown so much because of them. It' is amazing and rewarding to see my students after they have left Maple Hill and to hear of all of their success, It truly makes my heart happy!
When I am not working, I love spending time with my own children, Graeme who is 5 years old (and starting 1st grade this year) and Alannah who is 2! We love to spend time outside at the park and the beach. We also love going to listen to music and attend sporting events together as a family!
