We Celebrate Success

At Maple Hill Elementary School, we take pride in celebrating the achievements and character of our students. Aligned with the Naugatuck Public Schools Vision of a Graduate, we recognize and honor students who embody the qualities that will help them thrive beyond the classroom.

Each month, we focus on a different attribute from the Vision of the Graduate. Our dedicated teachers select one exceptional student from each class and specials area to receive the prestigious Bee of the Month award. This recognition acknowledges their outstanding embodiment of the attribute being highlighted. The culmination of each month is marked by the highly anticipated Bee of the Month Ceremony, a joyous occasion attended by the entire school community and the proud families of the award recipients.

But our celebrations don't stop there. At Maple Hill Elementary, we believe that every achievement, no matter how big or small, deserves recognition. We celebrate student success each and every day because we know that acknowledging their accomplishments is key to fostering a positive and motivating environment. If one of our students does something remarkable, we want to know about it! We feature these inspiring stories on our school-wide morning announcements, the Naugatuck Public Schools Facebook page, and ParentSquare, ensuring that the entire community can join in celebrating our students' triumphs.

In addition to the remarkable achievements of our students, we are honored to have Jodie Burns, Naugatuck Public Schools' 2017 Teacher of the Year, as a first-grade teacher and co-lead teacher at our school. Ms. Burns has made significant contributions to Maple Hill and the Naugatuck community, embodying the excellence and dedication we strive for in our educators.

We Connect with Our Community

Maple Hill Elementary School is a vibrant and engaged community that values the strong connections we have with Naugatuck and its residents. At our school, community involvement is not just a buzzword – it's a way of life.

Throughout the year, we collaborate with Naugatuck organizations to make a positive impact. We proudly host various food and toy drives, working hand in hand with our community partners to support those in need. These initiatives foster empathy, compassion, and a sense of responsibility in our students as they learn the importance of giving back.

One of the highlights of our calendar is our annual Career Day. This exciting event brings members of the community into our school to share their diverse careers and experiences with our eager learners. By exposing our students to a wide range of professions, we aim to inspire them, ignite their passions, and help them explore their future possibilities.

Additionally, we regularly invite guest readers to join us throughout the school year. This special initiative encourages a love for reading and provides our students with the opportunity to interact with individuals from various backgrounds. These guest readers share their favorite stories, sparking our students' imaginations and fostering a lifelong love for literature.

We Strive for Excellence and Inclusion

At Maple Hill Elementary School, our core values revolve around excellence and inclusion. We are committed to providing a high-quality education that recognizes and cultivates the unique abilities and talents of each individual. Our dedicated teachers and staff are passionate about creating an inclusive and supportive environment where every student has the opportunity to excel academically, socially, and emotionally. Through personalized instruction, differentiated learning approaches, and a focus on individual growth, we ensure that every child can reach their full potential and experience success.

We take great pride in incorporating the districtwide Together Everyone Achieves Mastery and Success (TEAMS) Program right within our school. The TEAMS Program is specifically designed to meet the unique needs of students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) who may have notable skill deficits in areas such as cognition, social and emotional development, communication, gross and fine motor skills, and activities of daily living. By providing tailored support and specialized instruction, we ensure that all students can actively participate and achieve success within the general education setting. At Maple Hill, we celebrate diversity, foster inclusivity, and strive to create a supportive and enriching environment where every student can thrive and reach their full potential.
